The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, has commended the Mining Commission for consistently exceeding revenue collection targets and contributing significantly to Tanzania’s economic growth.
During his visit to the Ministry of Minerals’ pavilion at the Geita Gold Fair, Dr. Biteko lauded the Commission’s efforts and encouraged them to continue working diligently toward surpassing the government’s ambitious target of collecting One Trillion Shillings in the 2024/2025 fiscal year.
Accompanied by the Minister for Minerals, Anthony Mavunde, Dr. Biteko expressed confidence in the Mining Commission’s capabilities.
“You are doing an excellent job. The target set for you is to collect One Trillion Shillings in the fiscal year 2024/2025, and I believe you will surpass it,” he stated.
The visit took place at the Geita Gold Fair’s exhibition, which began on October 2 at Bombambili grounds in the Geita region.
The fair serves as a platform for stakeholders in the mineral sector to showcase their innovations, technologies, and achievements.
Dr. Biteko’s remarks underline the government’s commitment to ensuring that the mining sector plays a crucial role in Tanzania’s industrialization agenda.
He emphasized the importance of continued efforts in revenue generation and mineral value addition to fuel economic development.
The Mining Commission was not the only entity recognized at the fair. Other institutions under the Ministry of Minerals, including the Tanzania Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (TEITI), the Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST), and the State Mining Corporation (STAMICO), also participated, showcasing their contributions to the growth and transparency of the sector.
The Geita Gold Fair remains a key event for the mining industry, attracting investors, miners, and policymakers. Through initiatives such as this, the government aims to strengthen the mineral sector’s role in Tanzania’s economic landscape, contributing to national goals of sustainable development and revenue maximization.
