The Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) is working with Airtel Tanzania to improve telecommunications services for businesses operating in special economic zones, with reliable internet connectivity identified as a key area for cooperation.
TISEZA Director General Gilead John Teri held talks with Airtel Tanzania during a visit to the company as the authority seeks to strengthen services available to investors in special economic zones in Dar es Salaam, Bagamoyo and Morogoro.
The discussions included plans to expand fibre-optic services within the economic zones, which could help businesses access faster and more reliable connectivity for their daily operations.
For investors, improved digital infrastructure can support communication, online transactions, data management and other technology-dependent business activities, potentially reducing operational challenges and improving efficiency.
The meeting also explored other telecommunications services that Airtel could provide to investors, as TISEZA seeks to make the special economic zones more attractive and easier places to do business.
The engagement comes as Tanzania continues efforts to strengthen its investment environment by improving infrastructure and services available to both local and foreign investors.
TISEZA and Airtel also discussed broader areas of cooperation in attracting and facilitating investment, as well as supporting businesses already operating in the country.
The authority said the engagement had opened up new opportunities for collaboration, particularly in providing services that respond to the needs of investors and supporting the growth of businesses within special economic zones.
