Tanzania finished third overall at the 2026 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Associations (FEASSA) Championships, which concluded in Morogoro on August 23.
Tanzania secured a total of 17 medals, comprising four gold, four silver and nine bronze, in a strong showing against some of the region’s leading school sports teams.
Uganda emerged as the overall champions after topping the medal standings with 56 medals—18 gold, 22 silver and 16 bronze.
Kenya finished second with 47 medals, including 20 gold, 15 silver and 12 bronze.
Rwanda completed the standings in fourth place with seven medals, consisting of one gold, one silver and five bronze.
The championships brought together secondary school athletes from East African countries, providing a platform for young athletes to compete at regional level, gain valuable experience and showcase their talents.
Tanzania’s 17-medal haul reflects the growing contribution of school sports to the development of young sporting talent, while also providing athletes with an opportunity to compete against their peers from across the region.
The FEASSA competitions are also regarded as an important platform for strengthening regional interaction, promoting sportsmanship and identifying emerging talent that could represent countries at higher levels of competition.
