Singida Black Stars launched their NBC Premier League campaign in impressive fashion on Friday after securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Fountain Gate at Airtel Singida Stadium.
The hosts took control of the match in the 28th minute when Jonathan Sowah broke the deadlock, giving Singida Black Stars a 1-0 lead.
Fountain Gate managed to keep the deficit to one goal for the remainder of the first half, but Singida Black Stars returned from the break determined to extend their advantage.
Their persistence paid off in the 82nd minute when Yusuph Adam doubled the hosts’ lead, putting Singida Black Stars firmly in command at 2-0.
The home side continued to press for a third goal and were rewarded deep into stoppage time. Methew Tegis scored in the 90+4th minute to complete a 3-0 victory and cap a dominant opening-day performance.
The result gives Singida Black Stars maximum points from their opening fixture and provides an early boost as they begin their campaign in Tanzania’s top-flight league.
Elsewhere, Geita Gold secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Mbeya City at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya.
At CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza, Pamba Jiji and Dodoma Jiji shared the points after playing out a 1-1 draw.
