President Samia Suluhu Hassan has recognised the Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS) for its contribution to the success of the Kizimkazi Festival 2026, presenting the agency with a special certificate of appreciation.
The certificate was presented on August 14, 2026, on behalf of TFS Conservation Commissioner Prof Dos Santos Silayo to Senior Conservator Philipo Mwampamba during a luncheon hosted by President Samia at the Kizimkazi State House.
TFS was among institutions that supported government efforts to address social and economic challenges facing communities, including initiatives in education, healthcare, infrastructure and environmental conservation.
The agency also took part in the festival’s three-day exhibition, where it engaged members of the public and stakeholders on the importance of conserving forests and bee resources and using them sustainably.
Speaking during the event, Mr Mwampamba said the festival provided TFS with an opportunity to raise public awareness about conservation while demonstrating how forest and bee resources could support livelihoods.
“Our participation here in Kizimkazi focused on educating the public about the conservation of forest and bee resources, while also highlighting the opportunities that can be created through their sustainable utilisation,” he said.
He said TFS also promoted ecotourism as an area with potential to support local economic development, create employment and increase household incomes.
Mr Mwampamba said sustainable management of forests and other natural resources was essential to ensuring communities benefit from conservation without undermining resources needed by future generations.
“TFS will continue working with the government, communities and other stakeholders to strengthen conservation and ensure forest resources are used productively for the benefit of current and future generations,” he said.
The recognition comes as the Kizimkazi Festival continues to provide a platform for government institutions and other stakeholders to showcase initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods while promoting environmental conservation and sustainable development.
