Bandari volleyball player Said Alhaji says the Tanzania Volleyball National League (TVNL) has entered a more competitive phase, with teams investing in stronger squads and improved preparations.
Alhaji said the growing quality of the participating teams had made matches more demanding, with several sides, including newcomers, proving capable of challenging established clubs.
He singled out Mulambo, JKT Stars, Magereza and High Voltage as teams that have added to the intensity of the competition.
“The competition has become much tougher because many teams have come well prepared and strengthened their squads. Even the new teams have shown that they can compete at a high level,” Alhaji said.
He said the increased competition was a positive development for Tanzanian volleyball because it was pushing players and clubs to raise their standards.
Alhaji also praised the Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF) for improving the playing venues, saying better facilities were important in creating an environment that supports quality volleyball.
“We sincerely appreciate the efforts being made by TVF under the leadership of Engineer Magotti. We believe there are more positive developments to come,” he said.
Alhaji said Bandari had strengthened its squad ahead of the competition, with new players recruited to address key positions.
He said the club had particularly focused on strengthening the opposite and receiver positions, giving the team greater depth as it targets the championship.
“The team is in good shape. We have brought in new players, including myself, and strengthened positions such as opposite and receiver. We believe we have a team capable of winning the TVNL title,” he said.
The player said the new signings had quickly settled into the squad, while training sessions continued to focus on building coordination, consistency and match readiness.
With the second phase of the competition approaching, Alhaji said Bandari could not afford to relax despite its encouraging preparations.
He said players and the technical bench were working closely to ensure the team maintained its focus and remained ready for the demanding matches ahead.
“Phase Two is not far away, so we cannot afford to sit back. As players and management, we are committed to the preparations. We are training properly and preparing for every match ahead,” he said.
Alhaji said Bandari’s ambition was not simply to compete but to remain in contention for the title as the league reaches its decisive stages.
