Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Secretary General Dr Asha-Rose Migiro has urged party members in Kibuteni, South Unguja, to turn their newly opened branch into an active centre for mobilisation, political education and community engagement.
Dr Migiro made the call on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, after officially opening the refurbished CCM branch in Kibuteni, Kusini District, South Unguja Region.
The branch has historical significance, with its roots tracing back to the days of the Afro-Shirazi Party (ASP) and Tanganyika African National Union (TANU).
Dr Migiro said the transformation of the branch was an opportunity for members to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and ensure they remain responsive to the needs and concerns of citizens.
She urged local leaders and members to use the facility for regular meetings, training, mobilisation and implementation of party activities.
“The branch should be a centre of party life, unity, education, meetings and implementation of party activities,” she said.
The Secretary General also called on members to maintain unity and cooperation, saying strong grassroots structures were important in ensuring effective engagement between party leaders and citizens.
She thanked CCM members in Kibuteni for the warm reception, hospitality and gifts presented to her during the opening ceremony.
The reopening of the branch comes as political parties continue to strengthen their grassroots networks, with local branches serving as important platforms for engaging members and communities on political and development matters.
