The Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam has donated 160 new classroom desks to Mwananyamala B Primary School, bringing the club's total contribution to the school to 260 desks valued at more than TZS 30 million.

The donation has ensured that all 680 pupils at the school now have proper seating, effectively eliminating floor learning and creating a more conducive environment for education.

The latest handover marks another milestone in Rotary's ongoing commitment to supporting quality education and improving learning conditions in public schools across Dar es Salaam.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Rotary District Governor Daniel Mukasa applauded the Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam and its partners for their dedication to serving communities through impactful and sustainable projects.

He also commended Mwananyamala B Primary School for the exemplary utilization and maintenance of the initial batch of desks donated in 2022.

He noted that the visible improvements at the school demonstrated the value of investing in educational infrastructure.

Looking on is the club's President, Lenah Munyua, as the donation marks another step toward improving learning conditions for pupils in Dar es Salaam.

The Head Teacher of Mwananyamala B Primary School, Ms. Modesta Mushi, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Rotary and its partners for their continued support, saying the donations have played a significant role in improving both learning conditions and academic outcomes.

Ms. Mushi highlighted the school's recent Standard Seven examination results as a clear indicator of the impact of the intervention.

Mwananyamala B Primary School recently emerged as the best-performing primary school in Kinondoni Municipality, an achievement she attributes in part to the improved learning environment created through support from partners such as Rotary.

The Mwananyamala B initiative forms part of a broader desk donation programme championed by the Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam to address classroom furniture shortages in public schools across the city.

Through the programme, the club has so far donated more than 5,000 desks worth approximately TZS 600 million, benefiting an estimated 15,000 pupils across Dar es Salaam.

The initiative has enabled thousands of children to move from learning on classroom floors to learning at proper desks, significantly improving comfort, dignity, and the overall quality of education.

Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam President Lenah Munyua said for Rotary, the project is about more than furniture. It is an investment in the future of Tanzania's children and a demonstration of the power of partnerships in driving meaningful social change.

“The success story of Mwananyamala B Primary School stands as a powerful testament to what can be achieved when communities come together in service” Said Lenah adding “From children sitting on the floor to becoming one of the top-performing schools in the municipality, the journey reflects the transformative power of education and the impact of Rotary's enduring commitment to serving humanity”.
