Mainstream Group Limited has won two awards at the Tehama Awards 2026, including second place in the Technology Innovation in Payment Systems category.
The company's Managing Director, Deogratius Lazari Mosha, was also recognised among outstanding leaders in Tanzania's information and communications technology (ICT) sector.
The awards were presented on Aug. 9, 2026, at Johari Rotana Hotel in Dar es Salaam during an event that brought together stakeholders from the technology and digital economy sectors.
The event was officiated by the Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Angella Kairuki.
Mainstream Group placed second in the Technology Innovation in Payment Systems category after competing against several institutions, including NMB Bank.
The category recognises organisations that use technology to improve financial services and make them easier and more accessible to users.
For Mainstream Group, the award adds to its growing recognition for developing digital systems for different sectors.
Mosha was recognised for his contribution to innovation and the development of the ICT sector.
In 2024, he received the Africa's Top Leader in Innovation Award at the Forty Under 40 Africa Awards organised by Xodus Communications Limited.
This is the second time Mainstream Group has been recognised at Tanzania's Tehama Awards.
In 2024, the company won an award in the Innovation in the Use of ICT in the Financial Sector category.
The latest recognition comes as the company continues to expand its work in developing digital systems for institutions and businesses.
One of its recent projects is a membership registration system for Simba Sports Club, after the company won a contract to develop the system.
The system is designed to simplify membership registration and the issuance of membership cards.
Mainstream Group Chief Operating Officer Pascal William said the awards would encourage the company to continue developing technology solutions aimed at addressing practical challenges.
“This recognition gives us the motivation to continue developing systems that address challenges in different sectors, including financial services and higher education,” William said.
He said Mainstream Group had also participated in developing systems designed to simplify banking services and digital education services for universities.
One of the systems is Smarti Uni, which supports higher education institutions in managing and delivering digital services.
William said the company's activities were also creating employment opportunities for young people.
According to him, Mainstream Group provides formal and informal employment to more than 100 young people in Tanzania.
He added that the company also contributes to government revenue through taxes.
The awards highlight the growing role of local technology companies in developing digital systems for financial services, education, sports and other sectors.
For Mainstream Group, the recognition provides further momentum to develop technology solutions that respond to the needs of businesses, institutions and users as Tanzania's digital economy expands.
