Kairuki pushes for full use of Magufuli Bus Terminal

Kibamba MP Angellah Jasmine Mbelwa Kairuki has called for the full implementation of government directives requiring upcountry buses to use Magufuli Bus Terminal, saying the facility must deliver value to residents and generate revenue for Ubungo Municipal Council.

Ms Kairuki made the remarks during a follow-up visit to assess implementation of the directives, commending the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner for taking steps to ensure the terminal is being used as intended.

She said the terminal, which represents an investment of more than TZS 3 billion, should be fully utilised to ensure residents benefit from the public investment and the municipal council increases its revenue collection.

The legislator said requiring upcountry buses to operate from the terminal would also help reduce traffic congestion in other parts of the city while creating opportunities for traders and other businesses operating around the facility.

“As the Member of Parliament for Kibamba, I will oversee the implementation of everything directed by the Government. I will ensure that the directives of the Regional Commissioner are implemented,” Ms Kairuki said.

She pledged to continue monitoring the implementation of the directives until the terminal is operating at full capacity and delivering the intended benefits to residents and the Ubungo Municipal Council.

The development highlights the importance of ensuring that public infrastructure is not only completed but also effectively utilised to improve services, support local economic activity and provide value for taxpayers' money.
