Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its longstanding political relationship with the Communist Party of China (CPC), describing the partnership as an important platform for continued cooperation and exchange of experience.

CCM Deputy Secretary General for Mainland Tanzania, Aggrey Mwanri, made the remarks on Thursday during talks with CPC Representative in Tanzania Xu Sujiang at the CCM headquarters in Dodoma.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the two sides to review their party-to-party relations and discuss the importance of maintaining the historic ties that have existed between CCM and the CPC for decades.

Mr Mwanri stressed the need for continued engagement between the two parties, particularly through the exchange of experience and ideas that can contribute to institutional development and stronger cooperation.

The talks also marked a farewell meeting for Mr Xu, who is concluding his assignment as the CPC representative in Tanzania.

The CCM-CPC relationship has been built over decades and has provided a platform for political dialogue, leadership exchanges, capacity building and sharing of experiences in governance and development.

For Tanzania, strengthening party-to-party relations with China also complements the broader bilateral relationship between the two countries, which covers trade, investment, infrastructure, education and other areas of cooperation.

The meeting comes as Tanzania continues to position itself to benefit from international partnerships that support economic transformation, institutional capacity and development priorities.

CCM said maintaining the relationship with the CPC remains important as both parties seek to expand areas of cooperation and deepen mutual understanding in line with their respective development objectives.
