SIMBA head coach Steve Barker has hailed his side’s impressive run of three consecutive away victories, saying the nine points collected in just one week represent a significant achievement.
Barker praised his players for their determination, quality and resilience in difficult conditions, but warned that the team must improve its discipline after receiving red cards in three successive matches.
“Congratulations to the players for the effort, quality and resilience they have shown. We need to work on the issue of red cards because they make things difficult for us,” Barker said.
Simba capped their demanding away schedule with a 2-1 victory over Singida Black Stars in a tense encounter, completing a maximum nine-point haul from their three matches.
The result further underlined Simba’s ability to secure important points away from home, although the disciplinary record has emerged as an area of concern for Barker as the team seeks to maintain its momentum.
Simba Information and Communications Manager Ahmed Ally also praised Barker for his contribution to the team’s recent performances, particularly the tactical approach that helped them overcome Singida.
Ally said Simba’s organisation in midfield was crucial in preventing Singida from controlling the game.
He highlighted the performances of Mwamba Lusaka and Eneo Maema, who, despite not being natural central midfielders, adapted to the demands of the match and helped disrupt Singida’s play.
“They relied on physical strength, while we relied on intelligence. Mwamba Lusaka and Eneo Maema read the game well and prevented Singida from dominating the midfield,” Ally said.
The nine points give Simba an important platform as they continue their campaign, with Barker now tasked with maintaining the team’s winning momentum while addressing the disciplinary lapses that have repeatedly left his side vulnerable.
