DAR ES SALAAM, July 4  – Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation (TTCL) said it is continuing to expand digital services across the country while maintaining profitability, underscoring the company's turnaround following a series of operational and commercial reforms.

Speaking at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, popularly known as Sabasaba, TTCL Director General CPA Moremi Marwa said the state-owned telecommunications company was showcasing a range of digital products designed to support Tanzania's transition towards a digital economy.

Among the services on display are the company's high-speed "Supersonic Speed" internet service, a Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTX) Experience Centre demonstrating smart home technologies, and cloud computing services provided through the National Internet Data Centre (NIDC).

"A digital economy cannot be achieved without reliable communications infrastructure and high-speed internet connectivity," Marwa said, adding that TTCL continues to leverage the National ICT Broadband Backbone to deliver affordable and reliable services to Tanzanians.

The technologies being showcased include smart home security systems, internet-connected household devices, online gaming applications and high-definition video services, reflecting growing demand for digital solutions in East Africa's rapidly expanding technology sector.

Marwa said TTCL recorded a profit of approximately 23 billion Tanzanian shillings ($8.5 million) in the 2024/25 financial year and that preliminary figures for the recently concluded 2025/26 fiscal year indicate further growth in both revenue and profitability.

He noted that final financial results for 2025/26 would be announced after they are audited by the Controller and Auditor General (CAG).

According to Marwa, the improved financial performance stems from strategic reforms implemented under directives from President Samia Suluhu Hassan aimed at transforming TTCL into a commercially driven and profitable enterprise.

TTCL, which manages significant portions of Tanzania's telecommunications infrastructure, has in recent years positioned itself as a key player in the country's digital transformation agenda, particularly through its role in expanding broadband connectivity and data hosting services.

The annual Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, one of East Africa's largest trade exhibitions, has increasingly become a platform for technology companies and state institutions to showcase innovations supporting Tanzania's ambition to build a more digitally connected economy.
