The Tanzania Institute of Education (TET) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the quality of education in Tanzania by showcasing its updated curriculum materials and newly available Form Five and Six textbooks at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (Sabasaba).
The institute is using the annual exhibition, being held along Kilwa Road in Temeke, Dar es Salaam, to create awareness among parents, students, teachers and other education stakeholders about its role in developing and distributing approved learning materials across the country.
TET Head of Finance and Accounting, Deo Fazah, said the institute remains a key pillar in Tanzania’s education system, supporting learning at primary, secondary and teacher education levels through curriculum development and production of quality textbooks.
“TET is the heart of education in this country because we cover different levels of education, including primary, secondary and teacher education,” Fazah said.
He said participation in Sabasaba provides an important platform for the institute to interact directly with the public and explain its responsibilities in improving access to quality education materials.
“Whenever we get an opportunity like this, we participate to tell Tanzanians what we do. We also welcome partners who want to work with us in developing curriculum materials and conducting research that can improve the education sector,” he said.
Fazah said the institute has ensured that revised textbooks, including those for Form Five and Form Six students, are available to learners and can be accessed through TET offices and authorised agents in different parts of the country.
He explained that the distribution network covers several zones, including the Northern Zone, Central Zone, Lake Zone and Southern Highlands, as well as major outlets such as Bamaga and Kariakoo.
“Students and parents do not need to travel to Dar es Salaam to get these books because they are available through our offices and agents across the country,” he said.
He added that TET maintains a uniform recommended retail price for its textbooks nationwide, allowing students to purchase learning materials at the same price regardless of their location.
The move is aimed at ensuring equal access to educational resources for students in different regions, reducing challenges associated with availability and pricing of textbooks.
Fazah encouraged parents, guardians, teachers and students visiting Sabasaba to pass by the TET pavilion and learn more about available educational materials, including the latest Form Five and Six textbooks.
He said TET will continue working with stakeholders in the education sector to improve curriculum materials and support the government’s efforts to enhance the quality of education in Tanzania.
