Tanzania and Poland have agreed to deepen cooperation in digital transformation, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital public services as part of efforts to accelerate the use of technology for national development.
The commitment was reached during bilateral talks between Tanzania’s Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Angellah Jasmine Mbelwa Kairuki, and Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs, Krzysztof Gawkowski.
During the meeting, Minister Kairuki outlined Tanzania’s key digital transformation priorities, including expanding universal connectivity, strengthening digital identity systems, enhancing cybersecurity, developing digital skills, promoting artificial intelligence adoption, improving digital inclusion, and increasing access to digital government services.
She called for stronger collaboration between Tanzania and Poland in areas such as cybersecurity, e-government solutions, AI research and governance, broadband connectivity, and capacity building.
Minister Kairuki also expressed Tanzania’s interest in learning from Poland’s experience in implementing digital wallets, improving system interoperability, and developing secure digital payment platforms.
Responding to the proposals, Deputy Prime Minister Gawkowski said Tanzania’s digital priorities closely match Poland’s development agenda, creating opportunities for meaningful cooperation between the two countries.
He reaffirmed Poland’s willingness to share expertise in digital government systems, cybersecurity frameworks, protection of critical digital infrastructure, digital payment solutions, and artificial intelligence technologies.
Gawkowski further proposed the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on digital cooperation between Tanzania and Poland, alongside technical engagements between experts from both countries to identify practical areas of partnership.
The cooperation is expected to support Tanzania’s ongoing efforts to build a secure, inclusive, and innovation-driven digital economy while strengthening access to modern public services for citizens.
