Simba SC have turned their full attention to the CRDB Federation Cup final, insisting the 2025/26 season can still end on a successful note despite missing out on the Tanzania Mainland NBC Premier League.
The Reds of Msimbazi will take on Azam FC in the final on July 4 at Gombani Stadium in Pemba, Zanzibar, with the match offering Simba their last chance to secure silverware this season.
Simba's Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ally, said the club has put the disappointment of the league campaign behind them and is now fully focused on lifting the domestic cup.
"The league is over, but we still have an opportunity to finish the 2025/26 season as champions. Our entire focus, energy and determination are now directed towards Saturday's CRDB Federation Cup final. It is a huge match for the club, and everyone must be ready," Ally said after Simba's final league fixture.
He said the players are highly motivated and will approach the final with determination, knowing victory would provide a fitting reward for the club's loyal supporters.
According to Ally, the disappointment of losing the league title has not diminished the confidence of Simba's fans, who have continued to rally behind the team because of its performances throughout the season and the prospect of ending the campaign with a trophy.
"Our supporters remain optimistic. They have appreciated the team's performances throughout the season and believe we still have a great opportunity to win the CRDB Federation Cup," he said.
Ally added that the unwavering backing from the club's supporters has lifted the spirits of the players, technical bench and management, all of whom are united in their determination to defeat Azam FC and bring the trophy back to Msimbazi.
Victory in Pemba would not only hand Simba another major domestic title but also provide a positive conclusion to a season in which the club narrowly missed out on league honours.
