The Rural Energy Agency (REA) has been recognised as the best government institution exhibitor at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (Sabasaba) 2026, after showcasing its contribution to expanding electricity access in rural communities.
The award was presented during the closing ceremony of the annual trade fair, which was witnessed by Zanzibar President and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi.
REA’s Head of Public Relations and Communication Unit, Ms Martha Chassama, received the award on behalf of the agency.
The recognition highlights REA’s efforts in implementing rural electrification projects that are aimed at improving access to reliable electricity and supporting economic activities in villages and underserved areas.
At its pavilion, REA showcased key achievements, including programmes designed to accelerate electricity connectivity, promote the use of energy for productive activities and improve the livelihoods of communities through increased access to power.
REA thanked stakeholders and members of the public who visited its pavilion and showed interest in learning about the agency’s projects and achievements.
The agency said the award was a reflection of the continued support from partners and stakeholders who have contributed to the success of rural energy initiatives.
Sabasaba 2026 brought together government institutions, businesses and other stakeholders to showcase investment opportunities, innovations and services contributing to Tanzania’s economic development.
