The Tanzania Police Force has assured citizens and visitors that the country remains safe and peaceful, urging the public to continue with their daily activities without fear.
The assurance follows concerns raised by journalists and members of the public seeking clarification on the security situation as the country approaches the climax of the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, popularly known as Sabasaba, on July 7, 2026.
In a public statement issued by the Police Force, the authorities said security operations are continuing across the country to maintain peace and protect people and their property.
“The Tanzania Police Force would like to inform Tanzanians and visitors that the security situation in the country is stable. Despite July 7, 2026 being Sabasaba Day and a public holiday, people are continuing with their businesses and other social activities peacefully,” the statement said.
The Force said it is working closely with other security organs to ensure that safety and order are maintained at all times.
The statement further called on members of the public to continue using social media platforms responsibly and avoid spreading information that could create unnecessary fear, confusion or unrest.
The Police warned that sharing misleading information through digital platforms is against the law, citing the Cybercrimes Act of 2015 and other relevant laws.
The authorities also advised the public to remain cautious and report any suspicious activities to security organs for appropriate action.
“Citizens are reminded that every person has the right to obtain and share accurate information from authorised security institutions,” the statement added.
The assurance comes as thousands of citizens, businesspeople and visitors continue attending the Sabasaba International Trade Fair, which brings together exhibitors from Tanzania and other countries to showcase investment, trade and economic opportunities.
The Police Force has urged the public to cooperate with security officers to ensure that the event and other activities across the country proceed smoothly.
