Mozambique's President, Daniel Francisco Chapo, has arrived in Tanzania for a three-day working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

President Chapo landed at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday and was received by Tanzania's Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, along with other senior government officials.

During the visit, which runs from July 2 to 4, President Chapo is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with his host, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the State House in Dar es Salaam.

The leaders are expected to discuss ways of deepening cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, security and regional integration.

President Chapo will also officiate the opening of the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), one of East Africa's largest annual trade exhibitions that brings together businesses and investors from across the region and beyond.

His itinerary further includes a courtesy visit to Maria Nyerere and the laying of a foundation stone for the construction of the Embassy of the Republic of Mozambique in Dar es Salaam, a project expected to strengthen the country's diplomatic presence in Tanzania.

The visit marks President Chapo's third trip to Tanzania since assuming office in 2024, reflecting the close ties between the two neighbouring countries and the continued commitment of both governments to enhancing their longstanding friendship, brotherhood and strategic partnership.
