The Police Force in Mbeya Region is holding four university students, including leaders of the Higher Learning Students’ Organisation (CHASO), over allegations of inciting violence and involvement in criminal activities in different parts of the region.
Mbeya Regional Police Commander, Benjamin Kuzaga, told journalists that the suspects were arrested on June 4, 2026, at around 4:00 p.m. in the Mafiati area, Iyunga Ward in Mbeya City.
He said investigations into the matter are still ongoing, and once completed, legal action will be taken in accordance with the law.
The individuals identified by police include Noah Mwalwange, CHASO Regional Chairperson; Gwamaka Mboka, CHASO Regional Secretary; Agustino Wasinyo, Chairperson of the CHASO branch at CUoM; and Rojas Mpwani, a student at the same institution.
Commander Kuzaga urged members of the public to avoid engaging in or planning acts that may disrupt peace and security, stressing that the police will continue to take firm legal action against anyone found involved in activities that threaten public order and safety.
