Mbarali Member of Parliament Bahati Ndingo has called on boda boda riders in the district to help preserve peace and security by resisting any attempts to draw them into acts of violence or vandalism.

Addressing boda boda operators during a meeting in Mbarali District on Sunday, July 6, Mr Ndingo said the group plays an important role in communities and should use its influence to promote unity and stability.

He urged the riders not to be persuaded by individuals seeking to incite unrest or encourage the destruction of property.

"Do not allow anyone to persuade you to burn other people's businesses or engage in acts of vandalism. Reject such calls completely," Mr Ndingo said.

He noted that boda boda riders have increasingly become an influential segment of society and should continue demonstrating patriotism by supporting efforts to maintain peace and public order.

According to the MP, a peaceful environment is essential for economic growth and community development, as instability disrupts business activities, discourages investment and affects people's livelihoods.

Mr Ndingo urged residents to remain vigilant and work together to safeguard the country's peace, describing it as a foundation for sustainable development.

Speaking at the meeting, Mbarali District Boda Boda Association chairperson Justin Minga pledged that riders would continue conducting their business responsibly and would not allow themselves to be used in activities that could threaten public safety.

"We will continue with our work peacefully and will not be used to fuel violence. We remain committed to promoting peace, unity and stability in our communities and across the country," Mr Minga said.
