Deputy Minister for Constitution and Legal Affairs, Zainab Abdallah Katimba, has praised the Office of the Attorney General for using the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (Sabasaba) to bring legal services and civic education closer to Tanzanians.
Speaking after touring the institution's pavilion at Karume Hall within the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Grounds on July 1, Ms Katimba said the initiative demonstrates the government's commitment to improving access to justice by ensuring citizens can obtain legal information and advice in an accessible environment.
"The participation of the Office of the Attorney General in this year's Sabasaba exhibition is an important step towards taking legal services closer to the people. It gives citizens an opportunity to understand their rights and the legal services provided by the government," she said.
She noted that legal awareness is essential in strengthening the rule of law and enabling citizens to make informed decisions when seeking justice or engaging with public institutions.
Ms Katimba urged officials from the Attorney General's Office to maximise the exhibition by providing professional legal guidance and public education to visitors throughout the event.
"I encourage the officers to continue using this platform to educate the public on legal matters and serve citizens with professionalism so that more Tanzanians can benefit from these services," she said.
The Office of the Attorney General is among public institutions exhibiting at this year's trade fair, where it is providing information on its constitutional mandate, legal advisory role to the government, and other legal services offered to the public.
Visitors to the pavilion are also receiving guidance on the office's responsibilities, its contribution to protecting the government's legal interests, and the legal advisory framework that supports government decision-making.
The 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, which opened on June 28, will conclude on July 13.
The annual exhibition has attracted hundreds of exhibitors from the public and private sectors, offering a platform to showcase services, products and innovations while strengthening engagement between institutions and the public.
