The Electrical Transmission and Distribution Construction and Maintenance Company Limited (ETDCO) is using the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), popularly known as Sabasaba, to highlight the progress of strategic electricity infrastructure projects as Tanzania expands investment in energy to support industrialisation and economic growth.
The state-owned company, exhibiting under the TANESCO pavilion, says this year's fair provides an opportunity for the public, investors and development partners to gain a better understanding of the country's ongoing investment in electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure.
Speaking at the exhibition on Friday, ETDCO Acting General Manager, Engineer. Richard Mwanja said the company is implementing several major projects aimed at strengthening the national grid, improving electricity reliability and extending access to power in underserved areas.
Among the flagship projects showcased is the construction of the 280-kilometre electricity transmission line connecting Urambo in Tabora Region to Kigoma, a strategic investment expected to reinforce power supply in western Tanzania and support future industrial and commercial activities.
Eng. Mwanja said reliable electricity infrastructure remains central to Tanzania's industrial transformation agenda, noting that expanding the transmission network is essential for meeting rising energy demand from households, businesses and manufacturing industries.
Visitors touring the pavilion praised the pace of electricity infrastructure development, saying improved access to reliable power is opening up new opportunities for businesses, investment and community development.
