The head coach of the Dar es Salaam regional athletics team, Erick Magesa, has said that the strong preparations made ahead of the National Athletics Championships are already beginning to bear fruit, after the team recorded an impressive start in the ongoing competition at Filbert Bayi School grounds in Kibaha.
Magesa said that, unlike last season, the team began preparations early this year and ensured athletes received structured training, proper conditioning, and adequate technical support.
He noted that this level of preparation has played a key role in the team’s encouraging performance from the opening day of the championships.
He said Dar es Salaam has so far secured a silver medal in the women’s triple jump, while also successfully qualifying athletes for the finals in both the men’s and women’s 100 metres, as well as the 400 metres events.
“We prepared well and the results are starting to reflect that effort. We have started strongly, and we remain confident that we will perform even better as the competition continues,” said Magesa.
He added that the technical bench is continuing to provide constant motivation and guidance to the athletes, helping to maintain high morale and a strong competitive spirit as they push for more medals in the remaining events of the championships.
