Azam FC have been fined TZS 50 million after being found guilty of refusing to participate in the trophy and awards presentation ceremony following the CRDB Federation Cup final played on July 4, 2026, at Gombani Stadium in Pemba, Zanzibar.
The sanction was issued by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Competitions Committee, which ruled that Azam’s decision not to attend the post-match ceremony amounted to a breach of competition regulations.
The disciplinary action followed a tense final that also saw individual punishments handed to members of the club.
Azam goalkeeping coach Roudy Mountaro has been suspended for four matches and fined TZS 2 million after being found guilty of assaulting the match referee during the encounter.
The club’s goalkeeper, Zuber Foba, has also received a three-match suspension and a TZS 2 million fine for a similar offence involving the referee.
In addition, the TFF Competitions Committee has referred two officials to the federation’s Disciplinary Committee over alleged acts of misconduct during the final.
Those referred are Azam official Jamal Salum Mohamed and Simba communications officer Ally Mohamed Shatry, with the disciplinary body expected to determine further action after reviewing the allegations.
The latest sanctions underline TFF’s continued efforts to enforce discipline, protect match officials and ensure that clubs, players and officials adhere to professional standards in domestic football competitions.
