A delegation of Members of Parliament from Zanzibar under the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has praised the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for its outstanding conservation efforts, rich cultural heritage and thriving tourism industry, describing the site as one of Africa's premier tourist destinations.
The legislators made the remarks after a tour of the conservation area, where they explored its unique wildlife, archaeological sites, cultural heritage and the history of early human evolution.
They also encouraged Tanzanians and international visitors to experience the destination, which holds three prestigious international recognitions from UNESCO.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Special Seats MP Zainab Abdallah said the visit had given the lawmakers a firsthand opportunity to witness the significant progress made in conservation, tourism, archaeology, cultural heritage preservation and community development.
"Seeing is believing. Over the past two days, we have toured the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and witnessed remarkable achievements. We have also seen large numbers of tourists enjoying the breathtaking scenery, favourable climate and unique attractions that can only be found in Ngorongoro," she said.
She noted that the visit had strengthened the MPs' appreciation of the conservation area's global importance and reinforced the need to promote it as a leading tourism destination.
During the tour, the legislators received detailed briefings on the formation of the Ngorongoro Crater, the area's significance as one of the world's most important early human archaeological sites and the continuing evolution of its diverse ecosystems.
Representing Ngorongoro Conservation Commissioner Abdul-Razaq Badru, Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioner for Community Development Gloria Bideberi commended the lawmakers for choosing to visit the conservation area.
She urged them to become ambassadors for promoting Ngorongoro both within Tanzania and internationally, noting that the destination continues to receive global recognition for its exceptional tourism experience.
Bideberi highlighted that the conservation area recently received the Travellers' Choice Awards Best of the Best 2026, an award reflecting high levels of visitor satisfaction and international acclaim.
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is internationally renowned for its unique ecosystem, where wildlife, people and cultural heritage have coexisted for generations.
The area is also recognised globally for its exceptional biodiversity and its contribution to understanding the origins of humankind, making it one of Tanzania's most valuable natural and cultural treasures.
