The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has announced the opening of a new Tax Service Center in Mkata area, Handeni District, Tanga Region, in a move aimed at bringing tax services closer to citizens and improving efficiency in service delivery.
According to the public notice issued by TRA, the new office is located at the former Rahaleo Hotel building, next to the TotalEnergies petrol station in Mkata. The center will officially begin providing services on June 6, 2026.
TRA said the establishment of the new service center is part of its ongoing reforms to simplify tax administration and reduce the distance and cost previously faced by taxpayers who had to travel long distances to access services.
The authority noted that the center will provide key services including taxpayer registration, filing of returns, tax payments, and general taxpayer assistance.
It is expected to benefit business operators, traders, and residents in Mkata and surrounding areas by making services more accessible and efficient.
TRA emphasized that the initiative is also aimed at strengthening voluntary tax compliance by ensuring that taxpayers receive timely support and clear guidance on their obligations.
The improved access to services is expected to contribute to business growth and widen the tax base in the region.
Residents and business communities in Handeni District have been encouraged to take advantage of the new facility once it becomes operational, as part of efforts to promote smooth and convenient tax service delivery.
