The Tanzania Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA), in collaboration with NMB Bank, the Chinese Business Community in Tanzania (CBCT), and the Chinese Enterprises Association in Tanzania (CEAT), successfully hosted an Investment Promotion Seminar on Special Economic Zones (SEZs) as part of the Government's ongoing efforts to attract productive investment and strengthen the country's business environment.
The seminar, held on June 26, 2026, at the East African Community Leadership Centre (EACLC) in Ubungo, Dar es Salaam, brought together company executives, representatives of Chinese companies operating in Tanzania, government institutions, and key investment stakeholders to discuss investment opportunities and initiatives aimed at enhancing Tanzania's investment climate.
Officially opening the seminar, TISEZA Director of Special Economic Zones, Ms. Ann Lyimo, said Tanzania continues to create an investor-friendly environment that enables businesses to establish and operate efficiently, while the country's Special Economic Zones offer competitive incentives that position Tanzania as an attractive destination for both domestic and foreign investment.
She emphasized that strong collaboration between the Government, financial institutions, and the private sector remains a key pillar in achieving Tanzania's vision of becoming a regional hub for investment, industrialization, and manufacturing.
Participants received comprehensive presentations on investment opportunities available within Tanzania's Special Economic Zones, investment incentives, and investor facilitation services provided through TISEZA's One Stop Facilitation Centre, which streamlines access to essential government services under one roof.
NMB Bank also presented a range of financial solutions designed to support investors, while the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), the National Environment Management Council (NEMC), and other government institutions provided detailed guidance on regulatory procedures, compliance requirements, and investor support services available in Tanzania.
The seminar also provided participants with an opportunity to engage in discussions, exchange experiences, and address challenges related to investment implementation, further strengthening investors' confidence in Tanzania's business environment.
From a broader economic perspective, the seminar served as more than just an information-sharing platform. It reinforced Tanzania's economic diplomacy with China by laying a stronger foundation for long-term investment cooperation.
Through presentations on Special Economic Zones, investment incentives, financial solutions, and investor facilitation services, Tanzania further positioned itself as an attractive investment and business hub in East Africa.
The initiative is expected to attract new capital inflows, accelerate industrial development, create employment opportunities, boost exports, increase government revenue, and enhance Tanzania's competitiveness as a preferred destination for strategic investment in Africa.
