The Tanzania Police Force Tanzania Police Force has issued a strong warning against individuals allegedly using social media platforms to incite criminal activities and threaten public peace and security across the country.

Speaking on behalf of the force, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) David Misime said police are closely monitoring individuals who are encouraging acts of lawlessness, including violence and destruction of property.

According to the statement issued on Friday, June 19, 2026, some individuals previously promoted planned demonstrations on July 7 but have since escalated to encouraging more dangerous activities.

“These individuals were initially mobilizing for demonstrations on July 7. Among the acts they are now promoting are road blockades, burning of schools to create panic among parents and guardians, attacking civilians, beheading and killing people, and destroying public and private property,” the statement said.

DCP Misime further noted that some of the individuals are allegedly encouraging attacks on law enforcement officers with the intention of stealing firearms to be used in planned criminal activities.

He emphasized that such acts, disguised as protest mobilization, are illegal and pose a serious threat to national security, public safety, and the rule of law.

“There is no right that allows the promotion of criminal activities that endanger lives, destroy property, and violate the rights of others while instilling fear in the public and disrupting daily economic activities,” he said.

The police also called on citizens to reject and report any messages inciting violence, urging the public not to share such content but instead delete and report it to relevant authorities for action.

The force reassured the public that security across the country remains stable and that peace and order will continue to be maintained through cooperation between the police and other security agencies.
