Tanzania, through the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade), has intensified efforts to promote the country's products and services in international markets through its participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2026) in Russia.
The participation forms part of Tanzania's broader strategy to strengthen trade relations, attract new markets, and expand the global reach of locally produced goods under the "Made in Tanzania" campaign. The forum has provided a platform for TanTrade to engage with international buyers, investors, and business leaders while showcasing Tanzania's export potential.
During the forum, TanTrade highlighted significant opportunities within the Russian market for a range of Tanzanian products, including coffee, tea, cloves, cashew nuts, leather, and other globally competitive agricultural commodities. The initiative supports the government's Economic Diplomacy agenda, which seeks to boost trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Tanzania and international partners.
TanTrade also encouraged Tanzanian exporters and investors to take advantage of emerging opportunities in Russia and other international markets. Officials noted that improving connectivity between Tanzania and Russia is expected to unlock new prospects for trade, tourism, and investment, while increasing the visibility of Tanzanian products abroad.
The authority revealed that international buyers have already begun expressing interest in sourcing Tanzanian food products, particularly green coffee, avocados, mangoes, papayas, and passion fruits. The growing demand is expected to create additional opportunities for local producers and exporters seeking to expand into new markets.
Further strengthening business ties, Tanzania's national carrier, Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL), is expected to launch direct flights on the Dar es Salaam–Zanzibar–Moscow route in July 2026. The new service is anticipated to facilitate travel for traders, investors, and tourists while enhancing commercial exchanges between Tanzania and Russia.
TanTrade said its participation at SPIEF 2026 demonstrates Tanzania's commitment to positioning itself as a competitive trading partner and expanding the global footprint of Tanzanian products through strategic international engagements.
