Employees from the Office Management cadre at Songwe District Council have honoured the council’s Executive Director, CPA Cecilia Kavishe, with a framed portrait in recognition of her people-centred leadership and commitment to improving staff welfare and workplace conditions.
The presentation, held at the council headquarters, was intended as a gesture of appreciation for what employees described as her openness, responsiveness and collaborative approach to addressing workplace challenges.
Speaking on behalf of the staff, Ms Shija Reuben said CPA Kavishe has cultivated a work environment that encourages dialogue, teamwork and accountability, enabling employees to contribute more effectively to the council’s development agenda.
She noted that the Executive Director has consistently provided staff with opportunities to express their concerns and participate in identifying solutions, a leadership style that has strengthened morale and enhanced productivity.
“We appreciate the way our Executive Director listens to us, values our contributions and works closely with employees in carrying out the council’s responsibilities. This gift reflects our gratitude for her exemplary leadership,” Ms Reuben said.
The employees pledged to continue supporting the Executive Director by maintaining high standards of professionalism, integrity and dedication in service delivery, saying their collective efforts would help the council achieve its development goals and improve services for residents.
Receiving the gift, CPA Kavishe thanked the employees for their support, unity and commitment to their duties, describing teamwork as a key driver of the council’s achievements.
She said effective public service depends on cooperation among employees and management, adding that she would continue to promote a supportive working environment and address challenges affecting staff performance.
“The progress we have made as a council is the result of our collective efforts. We must continue working together, supporting one another and remaining focused on delivering quality services to the people we serve,” she said.
