Slovakia's Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Juraj Blanár, has arrived in Tanzania for a two-day official working visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Blanár, who is in Tanzania from June 10 to 11, 2026, was received at Julius Nyerere International Airport by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation responsible for East African Affairs, James Millya.

The visit marks another milestone in the longstanding relations between Tanzania and Slovakia, with both nations seeking to deepen cooperation in key sectors including tourism, education, trade, investment, cybersecurity and scholarship programmes.

During his stay, the Slovak foreign minister is expected to hold bilateral talks with Tanzania's Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo.

The discussions are expected to focus on expanding partnerships and identifying new opportunities for collaboration in areas that support economic growth and development.

Following the talks, the two ministers will address a joint press conference before officiating the inauguration of Slovakia's Embassy in Dar es Salaam.

The embassy, which began operations in November 2025, is expected to strengthen diplomatic engagement between the two countries while facilitating greater cooperation in trade, investment and development initiatives.

A major highlight of the visit is the Tanzania–Slovakia Business Forum, which will bring together business leaders and private sector representatives from both countries.

Hon. Blanár is accompanied by a delegation of about 50 businesspeople who will participate in the forum and explore opportunities for partnerships and investment.

The forum is expected to discuss potential collaboration in strategic sectors such as renewable energy, agricultural value addition and digital innovation.

It will also seek to promote technology transfer and strengthen business-to-business linkages between Tanzanian and Slovak enterprises.

Officials say the visit reflects the growing commitment of both countries to advancing bilateral relations and unlocking new economic opportunities that will benefit citizens of Tanzania and Slovakia.

The opening of the Slovak Embassy in Dar es Salaam is also seen as a significant step toward enhancing diplomatic cooperation and supporting future engagements between the two nations.
