The stage is set for a high-stakes semi-final encounter in the CRDB Federation Cup as Simba SC take on Coastal Union tomorrow at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium, with both sides targeting a place in the final of the knockout competition.

The 90-minute battle in Arusha is expected to be highly competitive, with both teams determined to secure victory and move closer to lifting the trophy.

Simba are aiming to maintain their strong cup campaign, while Coastal Union are hoping to pull off a surprise result against one of the country’s football giants.

Simba SC head coach Steve Barker has expressed confidence in his squad, saying preparations have gone well ahead of the decisive fixture. He noted that his players are fully aware of the challenge and are focused on delivering a positive result.

Barker also acknowledged the strength of their opponents, stressing that the match will demand maximum effort and discipline.

“Our preparations have gone well and the players are in good physical condition. We are ready to face any situation in the match and make sure we get the result we need,” said Barker.

Simba captain Shomari Kapombe said the team understands the importance of the semi-final and is fully focused on securing a place in the final.

He emphasized that while the ultimate goal is to win the trophy, the immediate task is to overcome the semi-final hurdle.

“We started this journey from the early rounds and have faced different opponents along the way. Now we are in the semi-final and everyone has prepared tactically to ensure we get a result that takes us to the final,” said Kapombe.

Kapombe also called on Simba supporters to turn out in large numbers at the stadium to give the team strong backing.

On the other side, Coastal Union head coach Fikiri Elias said his team is well prepared both physically and tactically for the important clash. He noted that both teams are familiar with each other, which could make the match even more intense.

“History is there for learning. The 90 minutes will decide who deserves to go through. This is not a match for giving away chances. Each side must be very careful to get a positive result,” said Elias.

In the other semi-final, Yanga SC will face Azam FC at the CCM Kirumba Stadium in another highly anticipated fixture.

Former player Steven Nemes said both semi-finals are expected to be highly competitive due to the importance of the tournament and what is at stake.

He added that apart from the trophy, teams are also fighting for qualification to continental competitions, which increases the pressure and motivation for all four clubs.

“This competition is very competitive because, besides the trophy, teams also have a chance to secure places in international tournaments. That is why I expect tough matches, and any of the four teams can reach the final,” said Nemes.
