The Minister of State, Office of the Prime Minister – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), Prof. Riziki Shemdoe, has commended the Ministry of Finance for its strong performance in managing public finances and effectively preparing the National Budget, which received overwhelming approval in Parliament in Dodoma on June 23, 2026.
Prof. Shemdoe made the remarks during a visit to the Ministry of Finance pavilion at the 2026 Public Service Week exhibitions held at Chinangali Park in Dodoma, ahead of the official closing ceremony, where he represented the Chief Secretary, Ambassador Dr. Moses Kusiluka.
He said the approval of the 2026/2027 National Budget reflected public confidence in the government’s financial planning and the professionalism demonstrated by the Ministry of Finance under the leadership of Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar.
He congratulated the Ministry for preparing a budget that was widely accepted by Members of Parliament, noting that it had passed with more than 97 percent support.
“First, I would like to congratulate the Minister for Finance, Hon. Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar, and his entire team for the 2026/2027 National Budget, which has passed overwhelmingly in Parliament. This shows trust in the work being done by the Ministry in serving the nation,” said Prof. Shemdoe.
He stressed that the Ministry of Finance plays a critical role in ensuring that development funds are properly mobilized and distributed to sectors that directly serve citizens.
He added that these funds enable the government to implement key development projects, including health services, education, roads, and other infrastructure that support economic activities and improve the daily lives of citizens.
“The Ministry of Finance is doing an important job of ensuring that development funds reach the implementers on the ground. Without this role, service delivery would not be possible. We appreciate your contribution to national development,” he said.
Prof. Shemdoe also commended public servants working at the exhibition for their commitment in engaging citizens and providing services during the Public Service Week, saying such platforms help strengthen transparency and accountability in government institutions.
Earlier, the Assistant Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Simbani Liganga, urged staff to maintain high standards of professionalism and public service delivery as they prepare for the upcoming Sabasaba International Trade Fair in Dar es Salaam, starting June 28, 2026.
He said exhibitions such as Public Service Week and Sabasaba provide an important opportunity for government institutions to reach citizens directly, explain their roles, and offer financial education and guidance on investment and public services.
He encouraged staff to continue working with the same dedication and teamwork they demonstrated in Dodoma, noting that such commitment helps build public trust in government institutions.
Mr. Liganga also invited citizens from Dar es Salaam and nearby regions to visit the Ministry of Finance pavilion during the Sabasaba Fair to learn more about budgeting, financial management, investment opportunities, and other services offered by the Ministry.
He said officers from key departments including Budget, Pensions, Public Procurement Policy, Financial Sector Development, Administration and Human Resources, Policy Analysis, Government Communications, Public-Private Partnerships, and Treasury SACCOSS will be available to provide services and answer public inquiries.
