The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Prof. Godius Kahyarara, has praised the Office of the Chief Government Spokesperson for its strong role in communicating government activities, saying it is helping citizens better understand ongoing development efforts across the country.
Prof. Kahyarara made the remarks on June 22, 2026, when he visited the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports pavilion and its affiliated institutions during the ongoing Public Service Week exhibitions at Chinangali grounds in Dodoma.
He said the Government is implementing numerous development projects, policies, and programmes aimed at improving the lives of citizens, stressing that effective communication is key to ensuring people are fully aware of what is being done in their interest.
He noted that the Office of the Chief Government Spokesperson has played an important role in translating government work into accessible information for the public, helping to strengthen transparency and trust between the Government and citizens.
“The Government is carrying out many activities, including development projects and national plans for the benefit of citizens. Even if information is shared regularly, it may still not be enough because of the scale of work being done. However, the Office of the Chief Government Spokesperson is doing a commendable job in ensuring citizens receive clear and timely information about what the Government is doing,” he said.
Prof. Kahyarara added that when citizens are well informed, they are better able to participate in development processes and support national efforts to improve service delivery.
On sports development, Prof. Kahyarara also commended the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports for the progress made in preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), noting that Tanzania’s selection as a host nation reflects growing international confidence in the country.
He said hosting AFCON 2027 presents a major opportunity not only for sports development but also for boosting tourism, showcasing Tanzania’s culture, and strengthening the country’s global image.
“This is a clear sign of the progress Tanzania has made in sports. It shows the trust the international community has in our country’s ability to host major events and welcome visitors. It is also a great opportunity to promote our culture and national identity,” he said.
He further said the Ministry of Transport has already put in place plans within the transport and logistics sectors to ensure smooth movement of people before, during, and after the tournament.
He noted that improvements in road, rail, and air transport services are being prioritized to handle increased demand during the event.
Prof. Kahyarara emphasized that strong coordination among government institutions will be essential to ensure successful hosting of AFCON 2027 and to leave a lasting legacy in infrastructure and service delivery.
The Public Service Week exhibitions continue in Dodoma, bringing together government ministries, departments, and agencies to showcase their services and achievements.
The event is expected to conclude on June 23, 2026, with the closing ceremony to be officiated by Chief Secretary Ambassador Dr. Moses Kusiluka.
