The District Executive Director for Mbarali Council, Raymond Mweli, has attributed the district's success in rice production to close collaboration between the government, agricultural experts and farmers, saying the partnership has accelerated the adoption of modern irrigation farming techniques and improved productivity.
Mr Mweli made the remarks while hosting members of the Finance, Planning and Administration Committee from Maswa District Council, who visited Mbarali on June 27 to learn best practices in irrigation agriculture.
He said sustained cooperation among stakeholders has enabled farmers to embrace improved farming methods, contributing to higher rice yields and strengthening Mbarali's position as one of Tanzania's leading rice-producing districts.
"Our achievements have been driven by a strong partnership between the government, extension officers and farmers. This collaboration has encouraged the adoption of modern irrigation practices and significantly increased agricultural productivity," he said.
The visit forms part of growing efforts by local government authorities to share successful agricultural models as Tanzania seeks to boost food security, increase productivity and expand irrigation farming nationwide.
