ACT Wazalendo Deputy Secretary-General for Mainland Tanzania, Ms Ester Thomas, has urged party leaders and members in Malindi Constituency to safeguard unity and cooperation, describing them as essential pillars for the party’s growth and political aspirations.

Speaking on June 21, 2026, while opening the party’s Constitutional General Meeting for Malindi Constituency at Baitul Amin Hall in Unguja, Ms Thomas said maintaining solidarity among members would strengthen the party and prevent political opponents from exploiting internal differences.

“Unity is our strength. Once we become divided, we create opportunities for our opponents. We must therefore remain united and focused on our common goals,” she told delegates attending the meeting.

She said political challenges should not discourage party members from pursuing reforms and advocating for change, arguing that obstacles are common in political struggles.

Ms Thomas expressed confidence in ACT Wazalendo’s support base in Malindi, describing the constituency as one of the party’s strongholds in Zanzibar.

According to her, the party’s leaders and supporters should continue strengthening grassroots mobilisation and maintaining close ties with wananchi in order to sustain the party’s influence in the area.

“There is no room for retreat. Challenges should not weaken our determination to continue pursuing the changes we believe are necessary,” she said.

She also maintained that ACT Wazalendo enjoys significant public support in Malindi, citing the party’s performance in previous elections where it secured positions including parliamentary, representative and council seats.

Earlier, Malindi Constituency Secretary Mr Nassor Amin Said said the meeting had met the constitutional quorum requirements, with 108 delegates attending out of 158 eligible members, representing 68 percent of the total membership of the General Meeting.

The meeting brought together constituency leaders and delegates to deliberate on organisational matters and strategies aimed at strengthening the party ahead of future political activities.
