The Ministry of Energy has launched public services at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), using the annual exhibition to showcase Tanzania's energy transformation agenda while educating the public on clean cooking energy, electricity access and investment opportunities in the sector.

The 2026 edition of the fair, popularly known as Sabasaba, opened on June 28 and will run until July 13 at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds in Dar es Salaam.

At its exhibition pavilion, the Ministry and its agencies are providing visitors with information on key energy projects, policy initiatives and services aimed at expanding access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy across the country.

Officials say the exhibition offers a strategic platform to engage the public on the government's efforts to accelerate the transition to clean cooking energy, improve electricity connectivity and attract private investment into one of Tanzania's fastest-growing sectors.

Visitors are also receiving updates on flagship projects and reforms designed to strengthen energy security, support industrialisation and stimulate economic growth.

A number of institutions under the Ministry of Energy are participating in the exhibition, offering technical advice, responding to public inquiries and highlighting their respective mandates.

They include the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) and its subsidiaries, the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) and its subsidiaries, the Rural Energy Agency (REA), the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA), and the Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency (PBPA).

The agencies are using the two-week event to demonstrate new technologies, explain ongoing infrastructure projects and interact directly with consumers, investors and other stakeholders seeking information about opportunities in Tanzania's energy sector.

The annual Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair remains one of the country's largest business exhibitions, bringing together government institutions, private companies and international exhibitors to promote trade, investment and innovation.
