The Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has commended Franone Mining & Gem LTD for constructing a dispensary within the Mirerani special mining zone in Simanjiro District, Manyara Region, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, describing the project as an important step in improving access to healthcare services for miners and surrounding communities.

The recognition was made by Kenan Laban Kilongozi after inspecting the ongoing construction of the health facility in Mirerani.

He praised the company for its commitment to community development, particularly in an area where mining activities attract thousands of workers and traders.

He said once completed, the dispensary will serve miners, business operators, and other stakeholders within the Tanzanite mining hub, reducing the need for long-distance travel in search of medical services.

“I commend Franone Mining & Gem LTD for this important project. The Managing Director, Onesmo Mbise, should be congratulated. Continue serving the community, because giving back does not reduce wealth; it increases it,” said Kilongozi.

He further urged other mining companies to follow the example set by Franone in implementing CSR programmes, stressing that such contributions are not voluntary charity but a legal requirement aimed at ensuring communities benefit from economic activities taking place in their areas.

The Chama Cha Mapinduzi leadership reiterated its commitment to encouraging responsible investment that supports national development goals, particularly in improving social services such as health, education, water, and infrastructure in mining regions.

Manyara Regional Commissioner Queen Cuthbert Sendiga also praised the initiative, saying the government will continue working with private sector stakeholders to ensure communities benefit from investments made in their areas.

She noted that the regional administration has been educating mining stakeholders on CSR obligations, clarifying that it is a legal requirement rather than voluntary philanthropy.

She added that continued engagement has helped improve understanding among investors operating in the sector.

“Our position is that every stakeholder must contribute to community development based on the scale of their operations. This dispensary is a clear example of how the private sector and government can work together to deliver essential services,” said Sendiga.

The General Manager of Franone Mining & Gem LTD, Vituz Ndakize, said the dispensary project began on September 12, 2025, with a total cost of TZS 201,587,000, and has reached 98 percent completion, with full completion expected in June 2026.

He said the facility will benefit more than 16,000 people in Mirerani, including miners and traders who previously had to travel long distances to access healthcare services.

Ndakize added that the dispensary will include key medical units such as a reception area, consultation rooms, injection and dressing rooms, a laboratory, observation rooms, maternal health services, vaccination services, and a pharmacy.

The project is among several CSR initiatives being promoted in mining areas as authorities continue to emphasize the importance of ensuring that communities hosting natural resource investments directly benefit from them.
