The Six Continental Group has appointed veteran Tanzanian executive Benson Mahenya as its new Group Chief Executive Officer, in a strategic move aimed at strengthening leadership and accelerating the company’s expansion across Africa’s transport and logistics sector.
Mahenya takes over leadership of Six Continental Group at a time when the company is scaling up its operations in commercial transport solutions, regional trade, and logistics services across East, Central, and Southern Africa.
Founded in 2021, Six Continental Group operates in the supply of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, spare parts, tyres, and transport equipment serving key sectors including construction, mining, agriculture, manufacturing, energy, and government services.
The company has expanded its presence across Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia, Malawi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Mauritius.
The group has imported more than 16,000 units since its establishment and continues to expand its distribution capacity and service networks to meet growing demand across the region. It is also targeting increased annual import volumes as part of its long-term growth strategy.
Mahenya brings over 30 years of experience in banking, finance, consulting, manufacturing, and corporate governance.
He has built a strong reputation in institutional transformation, financial management, and organizational restructuring across both private and public sectors.
Prior to joining Six Continental Group, he served as Group Chief Executive Officer of GSM Group of Companies from 2023 to 2025, where he led operations across manufacturing, logistics, trading, and retail businesses.
He has also held senior positions as Group Chief Financial Officer, Deputy CEO, and divisional executive within the same group.
His earlier career includes senior roles at National Microfinance Bank (NMB), Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania, and African Banking Corporation Tanzania (BancABC).
He also worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he handled audit and advisory assignments for leading corporate and development institutions.
Beyond corporate leadership, Mahenya has extensive consulting experience through BM Associates, a firm he co-founded, advising institutions such as the Bank of Tanzania, Tanzania Investment Bank, Unit Trust of Tanzania, and several donor-supported programmes on governance, restructuring, and financial systems development.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of NMB Bank Plc, where he chairs the Board Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee.
He also holds other governance roles and contributes to academic teaching at the University of Dar es Salaam Business School, focusing on finance and professional development.
Six Continental Group President Seif Nassor Ali said the appointment reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening leadership as it pursues its long-term expansion strategy across African markets.
He expressed confidence that Mahenya’s experience will help drive operational efficiency, governance improvement, and regional growth.
The company said the new leadership marks a key step in reinforcing its position in Africa’s transport and logistics industry, as it continues to expand its footprint and enhance service delivery across the continent.
