ACT-Wazalendo has urged its members and Zanzibaris to remain patient and united as party leaders continue engaging in discussions aimed at advancing reconciliation, unity and the protection of citizens' rights.
The call was made by ACT-Wazalendo National Executive Committee member Juma Sanani during the opening of the Mwanakwerekwe Constituency Constitutional General Meeting in Zanzibar's Magharibi B Region on June 7.
Speaking to delegates, Sanani acknowledged the challenges currently facing the country but expressed optimism that ongoing efforts by political leaders would contribute to resolving the situation.
"We are passing through a difficult period, but significant progress has been made through the efforts of our leaders to address the challenges facing our nation. It is important that we continue to demonstrate patience, solidarity and commitment to peaceful engagement," he said.
Sanani also commended constituency leaders for successfully convening the constitutional meeting in accordance with party regulations, saying regular constitutional gatherings are essential for strengthening internal democracy and sustaining the party's organisational structures.
He stressed that adherence to constitutional procedures enables political parties to remain responsive to members while promoting accountability and effective leadership.
Presenting the constituency report, Mwanakwerekwe Constituency Secretary Mbarouk Ali Mbarouk said 62 of the 90 delegates eligible to attend the Constituency General Meeting participated in the meeting, reflecting strong engagement among party leaders and members.
The meeting is part of ACT-Wazalendo's broader programme of constitutional assemblies being conducted across Zanzibar to review party affairs and strengthen grassroots structures ahead of future political activities.
Party officials said 13 constituencies across Zanzibar have so far completed their constitutional general meetings, marking steady progress in the implementation of the party's constitutional agenda.
The statement was issued by ACT-Wazalendo's Information and Publicity Department on June 7, 2026.
