Yanga set to begin final push for League and Cup glory on June 1

Young Africans SC (Yanga) will return to training on June 1 as the reigning champions begin preparations for the crucial final stretch of the season, targeting a successful defence of the NBC Premier League title and a strong finish in the CRDB Federation Cup.

The Tanzanian top-flight league is currently on a break due to the FIFA international window, giving clubs an opportunity to regroup ahead of the resumption of domestic competition. Yanga entered the break after completing its last league assignment before the suspension.

Yanga Information and Communications Manager Ally Kamwe said the club is ready to intensify preparations, with players not involved in national team duties expected to report for training immediately.

Those currently representing their countries will rejoin the squad after completing their international commitments.

Kamwe extended his best wishes to the club's players on national team duty and urged them to remain focused and avoid injuries ahead of a demanding run-in that could define Yanga's season.

“We have travelled a long journey and can see the finish line ahead, but the remaining task is the toughest part of the journey. On June 1, we will begin preparations with the players who are available, while those on national duty will join us later as we enter the final phase of the season,” Kamwe said.

The club's first fixture after the league resumes will be an away trip to Kigoma to face Mashujaa FC, a match expected to test Yanga's title credentials as the championship race enters its final stages.

Kamwe also rallied the club's supporters across the country to continue standing behind the team as it pursues success on multiple fronts.

“After our defeat to Dodoma Jiji, we know there is no room for complacency. We have five matches remaining, starting with Mashujaa before facing Fountain Gate, Azam FC and JKT Tanzania. Every match will be difficult because there are no easy opponents at this stage of the season. We must prepare well and respect every team we face,” he said.

Yanga remain firmly in contention for major honours, but Kamwe stressed that achieving the club's ambitions will require maximum commitment, discipline and consistency in every remaining fixture.

With the Premier League title race approaching its climax and the CRDB Federation Cup still at stake, attention now turns to Yanga's final matches of the campaign, which could ultimately determine whether the club ends the season with silverware once again.
