Yanga extend lead at the top with dominant win over Coastal Union

By Victoria Godfrey

Young Africans S.C. continued their impressive run in the Mainland Premier League after cruising to a comfortable 3-0 victory against Coastal Union F.C. in a match played on May 9, 2026, at the KMC Complex.

The league leaders started the match with intensity and attacking purpose, putting Coastal Union under pressure from the opening minutes.

Their early dominance paid off in the 18th minute when Allan Okello opened the scoring with a clinical finish, continuing his fine form in recent matches.

Yanga controlled possession for most of the first half while Coastal Union struggled to create clear scoring opportunities.

Despite a few attempts to respond, the visitors were unable to break through Yanga’s solid defence, as the hosts headed into the break with a deserved 1-0 advantage.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Yanga maintaining control and pushing forward in search of more goals.

Allan Okello struck again in the 63rd minute to complete his brace and give his side a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Substitute pressure and quick passing movements continued to trouble Coastal Union’s backline before Maxi Nzengeli sealed the victory with Yanga’s third goal in the 75th minute.

The result keeps Yanga firmly at the top of the Mainland Premier League standings with 54 points as they continue to strengthen their bid for this season’s league title.
