Stanbic Bank Tanzania has donated medical supplies worth TZS 18 million to three major public hospitals in Dodoma, strengthening healthcare services for thousands of patients in the region and beyond.

The support will benefit Mirembe National Mental Health Hospital, Dodoma Regional Referral Hospital and Benjamin Mkapa Hospital key institutions providing mental health, referral and specialised treatment services in Tanzania.

The donation was officially handed over during a Corporate Social Investment (CSI) event attended by Dodoma Regional Commissioner Rosemary Senyamule.

Medical supplies donated by the bank included 300 hospital bed sheets, 150 surgical gloves, 450 syringes and 90 delivery packs.

According to the bank, the supplies will be shared equally among the three hospitals to improve patient care, support frontline health workers and strengthen daily medical operations.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Dodoma Branch Manager Joan Mbise said the donation reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting communities through practical solutions that respond to real social needs.

She said the bank believes development begins within communities, particularly in hospitals and public service institutions that touch the lives of citizens every day.

Mbise explained that Stanbic Bank’s community investment programmes focus on four major areas health, education, financial literacy and environmental conservation because the sectors are critical to sustainable national development.

She noted that the Dodoma initiative falls under the bank’s health pillar, which aims to improve access to healthcare services and strengthen service delivery across communities.

“Health is the foundation of strong families, productive citizens and sustainable economic growth. This is why we continue investing in initiatives that improve healthcare services and bring support closer to communities,” she said.

Over the years, Stanbic Bank Tanzania has supported various health programmes and institutions across the country, including partnerships with Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute, Tumbi Regional Referral Hospital and Goba Health Centre

The bank says it has invested more than TZS 200 million in health-related interventions in the past year alone.

Mbise said although the donated items may appear ordinary, they are essential in supporting healthcare delivery and improving safety within hospitals.

“Every bed sheet, glove, syringe and delivery pack contributes to saving lives, protecting patients and supporting healthcare workers to deliver services efficiently and with dignity,” she said.

Regional Commissioner Senyamule commended the bank for supporting the Government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare services in Dodoma and other parts of the country.

She said the donation would help improve the working environment for doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals while supporting hospitals that serve patients from several regions.

“This support goes directly to the people who need these services most. It helps patients, supports health workers and strengthens healthcare delivery in our hospitals,” she said.

Senyamule also encouraged more private sector institutions to partner with the Government in improving public service delivery through practical community investments.

She further urged the beneficiary hospitals to ensure the donated supplies are properly managed and directed to areas with the greatest need.

The donation aligns with the Government’s broader efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure, expand access to quality medical services and strengthen healthcare systems across the country.

As the bank marks more than 30 years of operations in Tanzania, Stanbic Bank Tanzania said it will continue working closely with Government institutions and development stakeholders to implement initiatives that create long-term social impact.

Mbise said the bank’s growth remains closely linked to the wellbeing of Tanzanian communities.

“Our success as a bank is connected to the wellbeing of the communities we serve. Tanzania is our home, and we remain committed to supporting its growth through meaningful and sustainable community investment,” she said.
