President Samia Suluhu Hassan has urged newly graduated police officers to uphold professionalism, integrity and accountability in order to strengthen public trust in the Police Force.
Speaking on Thursday during the graduation ceremony for police officers and assistant inspectors at the Dar es Salaam Police Academy (DPA), President Samia said police work is a sensitive national duty that requires discipline, honesty, alertness and a deep understanding of society and the law.
She said the government expects the investment being made in the Police Force to translate into improved service delivery, proper use of public resources and stronger confidence between citizens and law enforcement agencies.
The President noted that changing economic conditions, technological advancement and increased global interaction have transformed the nature of crime, making it necessary for police officers to improve their ability to deal with cross-border crime, cybercrime, road-related offences and other emerging security threats.
She emphasized that community policing remains one of the key approaches to maintaining peace and security, saying cooperation between citizens and police officers helps improve information sharing and crime prevention efforts.
President Samia also assured officers that the government will continue strengthening the Police Force through improved infrastructure, modern equipment, ICT systems, training programmes and better welfare services for officers.
She urged the graduates to use the knowledge and skills gained during their training to serve the public responsibly and work closely with communities.
“Your leadership will not be judged by the ranks you received today, but by your principles, integrity, professionalism and ability to deliver results,” President Samia said.
Minister for Home Affairs Patrobas Katambi said the ministry will continue promoting discipline, justice and professionalism within security institutions under his ministry.
He also reminded officers to carry out their duties in accordance with the law and avoid acts of oppression or misuse of authority.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Camillus Wambura said continued government support has helped improve the Police Force’s operational capacity through better working conditions, enhanced services and improved security operations nationwide.
A total of 719 officers graduated from Course No. 01/2025/2026 at the Dar es Salaam Police Academy, including 318 officers and 401 assistant inspectors.
