The Director General of the Rural Energy Agency (REA), Eng. Hassan Saidy, has called on employees of the agency to maintain professionalism and strengthen efficiency in implementing rural electrification projects across the country.
Speaking during a staff meeting in Dodoma on May 15, 2026, Eng. Saidy reminded workers to perform their duties in line with public service laws, procedures and regulations while ensuring government projects deliver the expected benefits to wananchi.
He stressed the importance of close supervision of projects and stronger cooperation with government leaders in areas where rural energy initiatives are being implemented, saying teamwork and accountability remain critical to the agency’s success.
“We should not move backwards or become carried away by praise. We must continue thinking bigger, remain innovative and work with professionalism and cooperation because that is what will keep us moving forward,” said Eng. Saidy.
He said REA is committed to ensuring all rural energy distribution projects are completed on time and according to the required standards, as the government continues expanding electricity access to villages and underserved communities.
The meeting also gave staff an opportunity to discuss ways of improving performance and service delivery while revisiting important public service guidelines aimed at strengthening accountability and efficiency within the agency.
In efforts to promote workers’ wellbeing, REA management also organized health screening services for employees, recognizing that good health is essential for effective execution of duties.
Doctors from the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute conducted screening for non-communicable diseases including heart disease, hepatitis and diabetes.
The exercise also included hepatitis vaccination services, where more than 100 employees received preventive healthcare support.
The initiative reflects REA’s broader commitment not only to delivering reliable rural energy projects, but also to promoting a healthy and productive workforce capable of supporting Tanzania’s development agenda.
