The Ministry of Finance has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration between the Government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in a move aimed at improving the efficiency, transparency, and impact of development programmes across the country.

The commitment was highlighted in Dodoma during a one-day workshop that brought together Government officials and NGO stakeholders.

The meeting, held at Mkandarasi Conference Hall, focused on enhancing coordination and building a shared understanding of systems that guide development planning, financing, and implementation.

Opening the workshop, the Acting Assistant Commissioner for External Finance at the Ministry of Finance, Mr. John Kuchaka, said the Government continues to prioritise inclusive and sustainable development, where every stakeholder plays a meaningful role in improving citizens’ welfare.

He said NGOs remain key partners in reaching communities and complementing Government efforts in sectors such as health, education, water, social services, and economic empowerment.

According to Mr. Kuchaka, the workshop was designed to strengthen understanding of financial procedures, Government budgeting processes, and coordination frameworks that guide development cooperation in the country.

He explained that the training also covered compliance with financial guidelines for non-state actors, planning and budgeting systems, and mechanisms for improving coordination between Government and development partners.

“This engagement is aimed at ensuring that all stakeholders operate with a shared understanding of national systems and priorities so that development interventions are well coordinated and deliver real results to citizens,” he said.

Mr. Kuchaka added that the Government expects the knowledge shared during the workshop to help NGOs align their programmes with national development priorities while improving efficiency, accountability, and transparency in project implementation.

He further encouraged participants to use the platform to exchange experiences, identify challenges, and explore practical ways of strengthening cooperation between Government institutions and NGOs.

He emphasized that transparency and accountability remain central pillars in ensuring that development resources are used effectively and reach the intended beneficiaries at community level.

Participants at the workshop welcomed the initiative, saying it would strengthen cooperation and improve the implementation of development projects across the country.

The Director of Doyodo Tanzania, Mr. Rajabu Juma, said the training had provided valuable insights that would help NGOs better understand Government systems and improve coordination in delivering services to communities.

He said stronger collaboration with Government institutions would enable NGOs to operate more effectively and ensure that development projects have greater impact on citizens’ lives.

“Working closely with Government structures will help us align better with national priorities and improve the quality of services we deliver to communities,” he said.

On her part, the Assistant Registrar of NGOs in Manyara Region, Ms. Anna Emmanuel, said the workshop had strengthened understanding of regulatory and financial frameworks, which are essential for improving compliance and coordination.

She noted that NGOs play an important role in addressing social and economic challenges at grassroots level, adding that capacity building initiatives such as this workshop are crucial for enhancing their effectiveness.

The one-day workshop brought together participants from Government and NGOs across several regions, including Kigoma, Dodoma, Kagera, Mara, Manyara, Tabora, Rukwa, Singida, Shinyanga, Simiyu, Geita, and Arusha.

Officials said the wide participation reflects ongoing efforts by the Government to strengthen partnerships and ensure better coordination of development activities nationwide.

The Ministry of Finance expressed confidence that continued dialogue and collaboration between Government and NGOs will lead to improved service delivery, stronger accountability systems, and more impactful development outcomes for citizens across Tanzania.
