The government has called for stronger school supervision and improved education management as Dodoma Region emerged among Tanzania’s top-performing regions in national examinations.
Speaking during a Regional Education Stakeholders’ Meeting in Dodoma on May 6, 2026, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), Riziki Shemdoe urged education leaders to strengthen monitoring systems and ensure effective implementation of school development plans.
Prof. Shemdoe said improving the quality of education requires close supervision at all levels, including tackling teacher and student absenteeism and ensuring timely completion of school infrastructure projects.
He praised Dodoma Region for becoming a model of academic improvement through cooperation among teachers, government leaders and education stakeholders.
“I commend the efforts made by teachers in both public and private schools in ensuring continuous improvement in performance in national assessments, including Standard Four, Standard Seven, Form Two, Form Four and Form Six,” he said.
According to the minister, Dodoma recorded notable gains in the 2025 national examination results across all education levels.
The Standard Seven pass rate increased from 87.89 percent in 2024 to 93.23 percent in 2025, while Standard Four results rose from 94.64 percent to 95.99 percent over the same period.
Form Two performance registered one of the biggest improvements, climbing from 86.12 percent to 98.05 percent. Form Four results also improved from 92.81 percent to 94.49 percent.
At the Form Six level, the region maintained an impressive performance rate, rising slightly from 99.86 percent in 2024 to 99.87 percent in 2025.
Prof. Shemdoe congratulated teachers, education officers and regional leaders for the achievement, saying their cooperation had played a major role in improving academic standards.
“You have done a commendable job, people of Dodoma. Your cooperation has greatly contributed to these achievements,” he said.
The minister also announced that outstanding teachers would be recognized and rewarded as part of efforts to motivate excellence in the education sector.
Meanwhile, Dodoma Regional Commissioner Rosemary Senyamule said the region had made history by ranking second nationally in academic performance in 2025.
She noted that for more than a decade, Dodoma had struggled to appear among the country’s top-performing regions but had now achieved significant progress through strategic planning and teamwork.
“These achievements are the result of well-implemented strategies and strong cooperation between the government and various education stakeholders,” she said.
Senyamule added that education stakeholders attending the meeting had agreed to ensure all plans and strategies are fully implemented to sustain the region’s progress.
The meeting brought together education officers, teachers and other stakeholders committed to strengthening learning outcomes and maintaining improvements in education standards across the region.
