The Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS) has promoted 39 officers and rangers in its Western Zone, in a move aimed at improving performance and strengthening the protection of forest resources.

The promotions were announced during a ceremony held on April 23, 2026, at the agency’s zonal offices in Tabora.

The event brought together conservation officials and staff from different units within the zone.

Speaking on behalf of the Chief Conservator, Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioner and Administration Manager, Erasto Luoga, said the promotions reflect the government’s confidence in the officers and come with increased responsibilities.

He said the officers are expected to demonstrate professionalism, integrity and accountability in their work, especially in managing and protecting forests, which play a key role in supporting livelihoods, biodiversity and the national economy.

“These promotions should motivate you to work harder, uphold discipline and deliver better results in protecting our forest resources,” he said.

Assistant Conservation Commissioner from the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority, Jackson Msaki, said the move signals trust placed in the officers and called on them to respect laws, regulations and public service standards.

He stressed that discipline, patriotism and accountability are essential in ensuring conservation institutions perform effectively.

The promotions are part of ongoing government efforts to strengthen conservation institutions by building staff capacity and improving motivation, as authorities seek to enhance the management and protection of the country’s natural resources.
