Tanzania and Canada have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector, with a renewed focus on clean energy, technology transfer and skills development.

Energy Minister Deogratius Ndejembi held talks with Canada’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Emily Burns, in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday, where the two sides explored ways to expand collaboration in strategic areas critical to the sector’s growth.

The discussions placed strong emphasis on the development of renewable energy, particularly solar and wind, as Tanzania seeks to diversify its energy sources and meet rising demand in a sustainable way. The meeting also reviewed opportunities for training and knowledge exchange aimed at improving the capacity of energy professionals.

Oil and gas development was another key area, with both parties considering the role of advanced technologies in improving exploration and production efficiency while ensuring environmental responsibility.

The talks further highlighted the need for closer cooperation in strengthening the overall energy sector, with both countries looking to leverage their partnership to unlock investment and drive long-term development.

Senior government officials, including the Permanent Secretary responsible for Petroleum and Gas, attended the meeting.

The engagement signals growing momentum in Tanzania–Canada relations, particularly in areas that support economic growth and energy security.
